History at The King's School is not just a collection of dry old facts and figures!  Here at The King's School we're very much aware of the amazing variety of experiences that different people have had during the centuries. And history is not just about people either; it's much bigger than that. It's the story of how an awesome God has interacted with mankind at key points to direct, protect and restore the beings He created.

History is important because it shows us where we have come from, how we have arrived at where we are today and how God has intervened in the lives of nations and ordinary citizens. Whether it be God changing the weather to protect an army, choosing individuals to challenge wrongdoing, or convincing others to fight for a righteous cause such as the ending of slavery, our history is about real people and the dilemmas they faced in their lives.

In History we aim to:

  • Investigate what has been discovered about the past
  • Identify and try to understand people's interpretations of historical evidence
  • Study the lives of significant historical figures, identifying their strengths and weaknesses

We believe:

  • That God is interested and involved in the lives of individuals and nations
  • That there is an ongoing battle between good and evil throughout history
  • That His utmost priority is people's salvation
  • That the actions of people and nations have consequences
