History at The King's School is not just a collection of dry old facts and figures! Here at The King's School we're very much aware of the amazing variety of experiences that different people have had during the centuries. And history is not just about people either; it's much bigger than that. It's the story of how an awesome God has interacted with mankind at key points to direct, protect and restore the beings He created.
History is important because it shows us where we have come from, how we have arrived at where we are today and how God has intervened in the lives of nations and ordinary citizens. Whether it be God changing the weather to protect an army, choosing individuals to challenge wrongdoing, or convincing others to fight for a righteous cause such as the ending of slavery, our history is about real people and the dilemmas they faced in their lives.

In Key Stage 4, a range of historical enquiry is pursued : Units in the OCR Schools History Project syllabus include : Elizabethan England Depth Study Arab-Israeli Conflict up to the present day History of Medicine through Time Local history, examining the development of Dale Abbey and village
Two pieces of coursework are completed in Year 10, constituting 25% of the final marks.
