Fundraising Afternoon for Ghana PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 28 May 2010

On Wednesday 26 May, an afternoon of fun activities was held at The King's School to raise money to help severely malnourished children in Northern Ghana.  Staff and pupils paid £1 to come dressed in the bright colours of the Ghanaian flag, and took part in activities including sports, pampering, face painting, and even throwing wet sponges at some of the teachers!

The idea for the afternoon came from pupils in Y10, who have been learning about the work of The King's Village, Ghana in their Christian Studies lessons.  They worked really hard to make the afternoon a success, and together we raised over £330.  The money will be used to build some more accommodation at the Nutrition Centre at The King's Village, and will literally help to save children's lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the afternoon.  Together, we really have made a difference.

Reward trip to Drayton Manor Park PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 23 April 2010
On Thursday 15 April, around 50 pupils were rewarded for their hard work and effort in lessons with a trip to Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordshire.  In spite of it being a very cold day, the pupils had an exciting time on the rides and stalls.  Some faced their fears on the 'thrill' rides including Apocalypse, a vertical tower drop and Shockwave, a stand up rollercoaster.  Others got very wet on the rapids and Stormforce 10, a reverse chute water coaster!  Much fun was had by all, and many happy memories made!

Aid for Haiti PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 22 January 2010

In a few days time, bags of food, water, blankets, toiletries and clothing donated by pupils and families from The King's School will be flown out to Haiti to help those whose lives have been devastated by the recent earthquake.

Following Monday's assembly in which pupils were made aware of the scale of the disaster and the desperate plight of the survivors, there has been an overwhelming response to an appeal for aid.  As the week has progressed, it has been fantastic to see piles of donations building up in the School hall, with pupils arriving each day carrying bags full of items for Haiti.  There has been a lovely sense of working together to make a difference and express God's love in a practical way.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.
