NTU Science Visit PDF Print E-mail

ntuStaff and students from Nottingham Trent University recently visited The King's School to deliver some fun and practical science activities to the two Junior classes.

Pupils in Y3/4 were introduced to the structure of the human body through an interactive presentation.  They were then given the opportunity to build Sid the skeleton, make a model muscle and joint and experiment with filtering - like the kidneys.

Pupils in Y5/6 took part in an environmentally friendly oil spill activity.  Having discussed the environmental issues associated with crude oil, pupils worked in groups to make their own 'sea' and then create a safe 'crude oil'.  The groups then had to try to clean up the spill using a variety of household materials.  They completed the experiment by putting feathers into the water in order to discover if they had successfully cleaned up the spill.

At the end of January, the Y5/6 pupils will be taking a trip to Nottingham Trent University to take part in some more hands-on science activities.  The King's School pupils will be joined by others from Linby Primary School in Hucknall for the day, which promises to be a lot of fun.
