Language is living and active and a vehicle for spiritual direction.  We believe that what makes us different in our approach to English is our emphasis on relating spiritual principles to all kinds of literature, including secular sources, and encouraging pupils to respond imaginatively and sensitively to what they hear, read and experience.

Our studies further aim to develop pupils' ability to communicate accurately and effectively through speaking, listening and writing.  We aim to teach an appreciation of language with its depth and richness of vocabulary, as a means of expressing creativity and communication and to empathize with the importance of metaphor and figurative language.  We hope that pupils' studies will lead to life long enjoyment and an awareness of the power of the written word, which will deepen their understanding of our creator God, themselves and the world around them.
